Table for One Please

Today I took myself on a date to the MOCA for the Transmission LA: AV Club show. It was filled with work inspired by music. My favorite piece was definitely Pinwheels - too cool for words really. The show was a good blend of audio and visual (hence the AV I suppose).

If you are in the area I would highly recommend seeing it before it closes.

After the museum I walked around Little Tokyo for a bit and headed to The Pie Hole for lunch. Mind you, I have never been to The Pie Hole and was reeeeeally looking forward to trying it. Alas, they were CLOSED! Boooooo. I guess I should have checked their hours of operations before heading there.

I did find food at the Novel Cafe just across the street and had a pulled bbq chicken sandwich. I am not a huge fan of bbq but I looooove pulled chicken, so I gave it a go and it was yummy in my tummy.

A lovely day to be inspired.

Sketchbook Project Finished!

Hooray! I am finished with my Limited Edition Sketchbook Project! Woop woop.

What's the Sketchbook Project you ask? Glad you asked...

The Sketchbook Project is a worldwide creative experience. Together, thousands of regular folks, like you and me, from all around the world form a traveling library of handmade books.

After you sign up to participate, you choose a theme (that you do not necessarily have to follow) and a sketchbook with a barcode is mailed out to you. When you complete the book, you mail it back and it is archived in the Brooklyn Art Library and exhibited to the public!

So cool right?!

Here are a few glimpses of my sketchbook. My theme is "The Secret and How to Tell It"

Overall it was a good experience.  Even though I had my sketchbook for months I waited until the final weeks to complete it. I am not sure if that was a good or bad idea; a little of both I suppose. 
I cannot wait for the lot to go on tour. Sure hope it comes to a city nearby.

Happy Earth Week! I put together a collection of items that are super fun and easy ways to make everyday Earth Day!

1. I am no stranger to wearing hole-y shoes to death. Adding a cute patch to cover the hole will definitely look better than toes sticking through the fabric. More importantly, it will ensure the life of your shoe for just a bit longer! (Source) 

2. When I saw the preview for this movie, I nearly was in tears. I can't wait to see it! If you see it opening week and Disneynature will make a donation to the Jane Goodall Institue. Let me tell you, I went to a lecture that Jane Goodall was giving in college; oh boy that woman is amazing! Just listening to the passion in her voice was so moving. (Source)

March 27, 2012 - It May Not Be Winter Anymore...

...but that doesn't mean I can't enjoy a nice jar of hot chocolate with marshmallows! 

It's one of my simple pleasures in life - to drink from a jar. Not sure why I like it so much but it's definitely on my list of things that bring me joy.

It's Spring! I am still having trouble spring forward but at least we are in one of my favorite seasons. Yippie!

1. Stripes can be tricky but I think this dress did a great job keeping it classy. I think it just may join my wardrobe. (Source)
